Santi White (born September 25, 1976), better known by her stage name Santigold (formerly Santogold), is an American songwriter, producer, and pop singer. Her debut album Santogold was released to positive reviews in 2008.Her second album Master of My Make-Believe was released in April 2012.

Orelha Negra

Vamos lá dar aqui um destaque aos Orelha Negra. Quase que vimos um concerto no sudoeste há dois anos atrás, mas a idade já pesa e, com muita pena minha, não ficamos até ao fim.

Tá aí um novo álbum que ando a ouvir, e até agora apraz-me dizer que gosto!

The thrive to share experiences- in a studio and on stage- was always in the core of music creation. When you combine the individual experience with the common goal, you get more than the sum of all parts, you have ORELHA NEGRA. Unique bunch of “characters” that bring their talent and knowledge of music to another level compose this Project. For whom it might concern we have Cruz (DJ/ Scratches), Ferrano (Drums), Gomes Prodigy (Keyboards, Synths), Mira Professional, (Voice Sampler/MPC, Synths) and Rebelo Jazz Bass (Bass guitar, Rhythm Guitar). Orelha Negra uses the sleeve cover technique (sleeveface.com) as a way to bring up the image of a collective enhancing the core and prominence of this project, which is their music. A MPC, a pair of Technics turntables, Drums, Keybords, Bass and Rhythm guitar. United becomes living tissue that emanates groove beats, samples, loops and a sound of their own. Orelha Negra is the result of putting together pieces of a puzzle. In each piece you find music history, the roots of black music such as Jazz, Soul, Funk, Groove and Hip-Hop, and a lot of Portuguese culture represented by renowned musicians that are translated to the collective’s language. The ability to transform their influences in to a unique and new sound is their challenge…. You find in their sound borders that are defined by the past, present and a near future. A sound that makes you stamp your foot or clap your hands, a sound that you can..t stay different to…. It makes you reminisce and try to recognize that groove or beat or sample but it turns out to be a fresh new sound in your face!!!!!

Dead Combo

Toda a minha gente sabe porque é que os Dead Combo andam agora tão na berra.
Gosto muito! Estava bem longe de conhecer o trabalho deles mas já conhecia alguma coisa e acho que já era altura do Sound Baites ter aqui um post arranjadinho sobre o assunto.

Investiguei um bocadinho e fica aqui um pequeno resumo. (Lisboa Mulata tá na DB)

Dead Combo é uma banda portuguesa nascida no ano de 2002, como forma de homenagear o génio da guitarra portuguesa - Carlos Paredes.

Dead Combo was born in 2003. After a Howe Gelb solo concert, when Tó Trips asked Pedro Gonçalves for a ride to Bairro Alto. Since none had a car at the time, they walked and talked about music. Tó Trips invited Pedro to record “Paredes Ambience” in the compilation CD “Movimentos Perpétuos – Música para Carlos Paredes”. This was the beginning of the band that has earned such awards as Record of the Decade and several Record of the Year.

A folk está no meio de nós

A descrição vem na internet, no seu myspace, e, por ser sucinta, é perfeita. A Francisca Cortesão fez canções, gravou-as em casa e decidiu mostrá-las através da Internet. Depois ganhou a coragem necessária e arranjou a companhia de três músicos: José Vilão, Filipe Pacheco e Nuno Rafael. Que é como quem diz que tornou a coisa real, tirou-a cá para fora. Minta surgiu assim, de forma aparentemente descomprometida. E pouco a pouco foi crescendo ao ponto de se tornar num disco de cinco canções: o EP You, lançado - que conveniente - no Outono. Francisca Cortesão sabe quais são as influências e escreve as canções com a simplicidade que colheu a outras experiências e a ao de pequenino é que se torce o pepino que a fez escrever canções em tenra idade.
